EXHIBITION OPENING: Air from the Old Millennium

An exhibition consisting of air, empty cans and your imagination

OPENING: On the 15th of January at 5 pm we open the conceptual exhibition Air from the Old Millennium at The Danish Cultural Institute and you are more than welcome to stop by for a glass of wine!

January is the month of Climate at the Danish Cultural Institute and the controversial and thought-provoking can project Air from the Old Millennium curated by Christine Fentz and Randi Schmidt, and produced by Secret Hotel, is perfect in connection to the climate debate.

The idea for the can project was born out of the widespread Y2K hysteria, which dominated the Western world around the turn of the millennium from 1999 to 2000. The etiquettes on the exhibited cans are made by artists living in Denmark where they are commenting on the theme Air from the Old Millennium .

Air from the Old Millennium has been exhibited at the Danish Cultural Institute in Hungary and China. And Chinese artists have also made etiquettes for cans sealed in 2006, and as the exhibition travels, it will grow, when more local artists will be invited to create new etiquettes.

OPENING: Friday 15 January 2010 at 5pm -7pm on Rue Royale 35, 4. 1000 Bruxelles

Air from the Old Millennium is exhibited
from 15 January - 1 March 2010

KNIT:STRIK travels
Next stop: Maison du Design, Mons

Who says that KNITWEAR isn't modern? I mean, when we were young we spent hours and hours looking for a cool knitted sweater, a poncho or a kitsch scarf in the draws and cupboards of our parents. Nothing could be too ugly or too kitsch. Everything was perfect!

From the 4th of February 2010 Maison du Design located in Mons invites you to an exhibition all about knitting. The exhibition shows the combination of traditional knitting alongside with new and experimental design and ideas created by young Danish designers from Kolding School of Design in Denmark .

The designers are a mixture of current students as well as former students at the school. You will see works made by:

Pernille Højager Egelund, Maria Wolf Rasmussen, Louise Wahlgreen, Iben Høj, Signe Emdal, Rikke Jo Tholstrup, Katarina I Geil, H. C. Madsen, Line Dyrholm, Dorthe Merete Lykke Jensen and Maria Kirk Mikkelsen.

KNIT: STRIK is a travelling exhibition subtitled DK: STRIK and has already been exhibited in Kolding , Denmark, in the Faroe Islands and Galerij Theaxus, Belgium.

Curator: Helene Jensen (teacher at Kolding School of Design)

Time: 4th of February – 5th of March 2010.
