Dialogue and exchange

The mission of the institute is to strengthen international understanding by arranging cultural exchanges and providing information about Denmark. The philosophy of the Danish Cultural Institute Benelux is based upon a concept of culture that embraces the arts, culture and society.
Through dialogue with other countries our culture is enriched. Advances in technology and the political changes in Europe during the past decade have vastly improved opportunities for exchange, and the challenges of globalisation confirm the importance of cross-cultural activities.
The institute promotes cultural exchange and informs about Denmark. This is done by supporting projects that aim at a lasting cooperation between foreign and Danish cultural institutions, artists and other professionals.

The Scandinavian Language School

Exchange within Europe has led to an increasing interest in Scandinavian languages. This led to a new initiative at The Danish Cultural Institute: The Scandinavian Language School which offers courses in Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish and Islandic.

The Scandinavian Language School was formed on a shared initiative from the Norwegian and Swedish Embassies in Belgium, the Swedish Institute in Stockholm and the Danish Cultural Institute Benelux. The school's aim is to bring Scandinavians and citizens in the Benelux closer together by making them familiar with each other's languages.

The Danish Cultural Institute has more than 50 years of experience in language teaching. All teachers are native speakers, and the courses are held exclusively in the target language.
