FOOTPRINTS ALONG A COASTLINE – a project of Foundation Wadden Art in the Wadden Sea
Festival 2008 in Denmark.

Footprints Along A Coastline is a dynamic international art-on-site project based on
considerations about expression of art, about simplicity, about art in global environment,
about transitoriness, life and mortality.
"Footprints along a coastline" consists of two parts and takes place at Marbaek strand and near Blaavand Lighthouse.
During the first part, from 16th till 21st august, ten individual artists will walk and work along the coastline between Marbaek and Hjerting, creating their artwork with the material at place and on the spot. Every artist makes a substantive work of art on a new location every day. Visitors walking along the coastline will observe the myriad of works while created and exhibited on location.
During the second part, from 22nd till 24th august, the artists work for three days on a spot near the lighthouse of Blaavand, creating an area that, at the end of the festival, will serve as a stage for theatre and vocal arts, as a part of the performance programme of the Wadden Sea Festival 2008.
“The Wadden Sea provides the artist with what it has to offer, and when flood comes in, the sea will take what it gave to the artists during the flood before. The artists challenge is to create and document works within the unpredictable conditions on a tidal coastline. Sometimes materials are to be found abundantly, and sometimes there will only be sand, water and wind. The catalogue will present transitaorial works and processes.
Artists who want to take part in the festival are invited to look at www.waddenart.eu, fill in the entryform, and send their concept for Footprints Along A Coastline before 1 may 2008. The selection procedure will start in May 2008.
